Why we chose bamboo over lyocell

Both bamboo viscose and lyocell (Tencel) are excellent fiber choices for temperature-regulating bedding. They share many qualities: both are derived from plant cellulose, both drape beautifully, and both wick moisture more efficiently than cotton.

However, bamboo viscose has a natural moisture regain of approximately 18%, compared to lyocell's 11%. This higher moisture regain means bamboo fibers can absorb and release more water vapor — a critical property when paired with our PCM phase-change core.

The PCM layer works by absorbing heat; the bamboo layer works by moving moisture. Together, they address both of the primary discomfort vectors for hot sleepers: temperature and humidity.

Our bamboo is sourced from certified organic plantations and processed using a closed-loop manufacturing system. No solvent runoff, no chemical waste. The fiber is then woven in Portugal at our partner mill — a family operation that has been weaving technical textiles for three generations.
